These offices usually have libraries or resource centers to help people find prospective grants. Before you begin writing your proposal, you need to know what kind of research you will be doing and why.

For staff positions, explain what the person in that position will do for the project.
This is where a lot of people start writing, but – as you should be able to tell by now – if you start writing here, you may rewrite this several times. If a foundation says they prefer electonic submissions, submit electonrically! If you are senind paper, don’t staple your proposal or put it in a fancy cover.
